Meet Rob!
Our newest Collections volunteer Rob joined our team in early December. He is a talented photographer and is interested in learning more about collections processing. Last month Rob also began helping catalog the Doris K. Wylie Hoskins Archive for Cultural Diversity.
Rob's photography helps us achieve an important part of our cataloging process for two reasons. #1. Every object in our collection is photographed. High quality digital photographs help us capture details and the current condition of our artifacts. #2. Before being placed in storage, every object receives a barcode tag. A photo of the object is printed on the tag, making it very easy to locate and identify each individual artifact. The barcode on the tag is scanned during inventory.
Rob's interest in collections work stems from his MA in Anthropology with a concentration in Archaeology from the University of Colorado Denver. He says his favorite project with us so far has been cleaning and photographing an Underwood No. 5 Standard typewriter from 1924!
Great work Rob, we are thrilled to have you on the team! #CollectionsCorner
