Meet our volunteer, Charlie!
For #CollectionsCorner this week we are starting a new monthly series introducing our amazing Collections volunteers! Charlie retired from WILL in 2017 and joined our volunteer team in 2018. His main work here has been cataloging. Charlie recently started working in the new Rankin Center, helping to improve catalog records and update condition reports for each artifact that is moved into our new large artifact storage area.
His favorite collection that he has worked on is the Schmale Collection, where he cataloged rosters of Champaign County men who served in the Civil War as well as local connections to Grierson's Raid. He is also passionate about tools - even through his mask you can tell he is smiling in this photo! These tools were inside the tool chest shown on the right when it was on exhibit near the museum stairwell. The tools were removed and will receive new storage homes. Thank you for your dedication and work, Charlie!
