As schools in the area start returning to class this week, it's a great time to look back at one of the earliest schools in Champaign County - the Clark School.

Did you know that at the northwestern point of Homer Lake Forest Preserve stands the site of one of the earliest schools in the area? The Clark School was established in 1856 and by 1900 was one of 200 schoolhouses in Champaign County educating young students. The Clark School remained open until 1951.
